The six principles guide naturopathic practitioners to patient centred, and holistic care that respects the body's innate wisdom and supports the natural healing process.
Naturopaths use a gentle approach to healing by working with the healing power of nature in diagnosis, treatment and counselling. Prioritising minimal intervention and minimising harmful effects.
The inherent self-organising and healing process of a living system which is recognised as ordered and intelligent. As naturopaths we aim to support and enhance this process by identifying barriers to health and fostering a conducive environment.
Identifying and removing the root cause of illness is essential for recovery. Any symptoms experienced may indicate the body's efforts to combat disease. Treating the cause, not just symptoms, is imperative.
One of the main objectives as a Naturopath is to educate and empower the patient to take responsibility for their health. They provide guidance, education, and support to help patients make informed decisions about their health, lifestyle choices, and treatment options.
As a Naturopath we recognise health and illness are influenced by many factors including including physical, mental, emotional, social, environmental, and spiritual aspects of life. These are all accounted for when treating the patient.
Naturopathy prioritises preventive healthcare by recognising and managing risk factors preemptively through lifestyle promotion, addressing imbalances, and optimising overall health for disease prevention and longevity.
